Meeting Highlights:
1) Salim Talib briefed the Board about parade matters. Details about the location of the ACT entries will be available on March 2. The ACT has already filed its registration with the Springtime Tallahassee for two units (60 people).
2) CAT is planning to bring the Martial Arts group as a separate entity. The Dragon from the Chinese group will March separately from the ACT entries.
3) The Taiwanese American Association will have its separate
entry.
4) ACT members will be in their native attires. ACT will not have a float but will be carrying the Asian flags.
5) FSU International Bazaar will be Saturday March 21, 2009
from 1-5 PM at FSU Union Ballroom. ACT will have only a booth.

6) The Asian-Pacific Heritage Awareness Month will be in May. ACT will be having it celebration on May 9, 2009 at the FSU Union Ballroom. This festival will focus on kids from K through Grade 12 as well as adults.
7) Clyde Diao will contact the Mayor’s office and invite Mayor John Marks to give the Asian-Pacific Heritage Awareness Month Proclamation at the event.
8) As part of the Asian Pacific Awareness Month Celebration, the Thai Community is coordinating with the FSU Film to have an Asian Film Festival during the month of May. The location for the film showing will be finalized on the next ACT Meeting, March 8, 2009.
9) Experience Asia 2009 will be on October 3, 2009.
10) Melinda Cowen is helping the Fund Raising initiative for Experience Asia 2009. At the meeting, she shared innovative fund raising ideas for the event. Together with Nanhui Looney who is the Director of Fund Raising, they will create a committee to start the fund raising soon in light of the economic downturn.
11) Experience Asia 2009 Banquet will be on November 14, 2009 at the FSU Union Ballroom.
12) The Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce will be holding a conference regarding doing international business. Salim Talib will contact the Chamber of Commerce about the possibility of ACT providing a speaker about doing business in Asia. Satish Kastury, the ACT adviser has offered to provide a presentation during the event.
13) Genzo Tanaka suggested that Japanese Community will borrow the therapeutic robot for about one month from mid March this time. They plan to display it at the International Bazaar and to walk with it at the Spring Time Tallahassee Parade. Also, they would like to show it to doctors and healthcare workers who work for seniors.
14) The next ACT meeting will be on March 8th at Lucy Ho.
